Oh, that’s not Eminem, that’s a song by KJ52 called "Dear Slim"... it’s actually written as a letter to Eminem.

man, did that sound like eminem-to my untrained ear, anyway. Thanks.

05. Dec 4, 2002 at 10:22am by Joseph:

This is why KJ wrote this song. So many people think he sounds like Eminem.  Well, actually he wrote it in hopes Slim WOULD hear it, hoping in a way to reach him personally with Christ

Does eminem kow about this??
if he did mabey he would turn his life arond!!

[oops] kj-52 he is a [oops]ing gay flaming homosexual

11. Jun 6, 2003 at 3:34am by limmerik:

eminem is a christian, not a great example of one, but he is, if you listen to his first album "Infinite" he says it himself, and hey, the Insane Clown Posse revealed their christianity on their last album.  And to be perfectly honest, even though he may be good, I think KJ just did that song to get his name out there, anyone that takes shots at eminem gets recognition, mainly because Em rips them on his nest single

12. Jun 6, 2003 at 10:36am by Anthony:

Pete - thanks for your intelligent, insightful comment.

limmerik - if you’d listen to KJ52’s song "Dear Slim," you’d know that he’s not "taking shots" at Eminem.  He is trying to reach the man with the message of the gospel.  In the song, he asks Eminem why he claimed to be a Christian on "Infinite," but then totally changed up his sound/message after that.

It may be true that Eminem or ICP is/are Christians, but that doesn’t mean anything if they’re completely ignoring all the tenets of the Christian faith in their lives.

13. Jun 13, 2003 at 1:27pm by Preston:

Okay, Eminem is not a christian. The Bible says that you cannot sin and be a christian. Eminem does it in every song he sings, oh yeah, he doesn’t sing he just rymes.  And KJ is way cooler than Eminem. I’m with KJ, I don’t think Eminem is a horrible person, he just needs God.

14. Jun 17, 2003 at 3:02am by Me:

Let’s all pray for Eminem. That’s what we all should do. Thank God for KJ!

15. Jul 31, 2003 at 6:43pm by Prince Igor:

YOU ALL GUYS ARE RIGHT! SLIM IS A GOOD PERSON, BUT I’M NOT SURE ABOUT HIS CHRISTIAN LIFE! I THINK TO BE A CHRISTIAN IS A WAY OF LIVING.
Look guys, in Romans 10:9  == "hat if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." you may see the condition to be saved. Eminem is realy far from confessing Jesus in his Grammy songs. I do like Eminem, he is very talented, but I will advice you to check on KJ’s biography and try to download his song Dear Slim. I was shocked of his profesionalism in RAP. KJ writes rap since he was 12 years old!!! and he does it good! especialy his last album called COLLABORATIONS is amazing and blessed by GOD!!!
Go here if have time http://www.christianitytoday.com/music/artists/kj52.html
And you can also download Dear Slim song here:  http://www.nrca.ca/Grade11/Kj-52%20-%20Dear%20Slim.mp3

hey people,
totally agree with u prince !!!!! no one is a bad person cause jesus loves everyone its just eminem’s lyrics that are bad ! my problem is i have a friend who well thinks eminem rulz and i quoted philippians 4:8 to him but it didnt make any difference he says that no one should be saying things bout slim unless theyve gone through the same things slim has and that its just his way of dealing with everything he gone through ! how do i convince my friend otherwise ??? HELP PLEASE

17. Aug 1, 2003 at 2:22pm by Prince Igor:

U know something. I do think that everyone are good and Jesus (dear dare 2 differ don’t never write Jesus with a lowercase letter this is unrespect to Jesus).
What I will ask you now is to read with me Mathew 12:34 to 37 ====

34 For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.
35 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.
37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

Please think about it. And while you are in your room alone, listening and rapping with your jumbox with shady’s CD inside you should know that you are not alone, and you should ask yourself what will you say for yourself when God will ask you to answer for the words you’ve spoken careless.
Your friend is right in some point, and I tell you Eminem is endeed talented, but his heart is dirty as his lyrics are, so you should pray for him if you love him that much, and God may change his heart first, for his lyrics to become better!!! The fear of God is the begining of the wisdom guys! GOD BLESS U BIG

Here I am sending you the lyrics of DEAR SLIM by KJ-52

KJ-52 =====  DEAR SLIM

Dear Slim I never wrote you or been callin
My name ain’t Stan son, nah we’ve never met and
My name’s KJ let me begin by introducing now
Myself to you and these very reasons I’ll be writin
Why I took the time, the who what where and why and
The purpose of my verse, the reasons I’m reciting
What I hope your learnin from the truth I pray your finding
And every word I’m writin down upon the dotted lines and
See I heard ya first album, was called Infinite
I shook my head cause nowadays you soundin different
What drove ya take your whole persona and be flippin it now
What makes a man totally change see I ain’t getting it
See was you sick of getting booed when you was rippin it
And sick of never havin dough and you your wanted to put an end to it
What good’s all kinds of dough
Plus all kinds of flow
To gain a world of fans but suffer the loss of soul

CHORUS
La la la la la la,
La la la la la la la la
To whom it may concern x4

Dear Slim I never wrote you or been calling
This is my 2nd letter cause see son I gots a real problem
It’s that to you that I’m always catching these comparisons
And after shows I got these people coming up to me sayin
You sound like Slim Shady son you sound like Eminem
And I be like now really man, do I gots to go through this again
See I used to get mad and sick of people saying that
Till at this one show this one day I met this one cat
He told me how he used to listen to you but now he listens to me
Had your LP but threw it out and bought my CD
I’m like for real he’s like yeah he said my music made a difference
It got him away from all your words and images
I gotta mention this, now what about the effects you have on kids
You ever stop to think about the millions you influence
Or is it just irrelevent is it true life you telling it
Or just the way for some record companies sellin it
The only think we got in common is our melanin
Or lack of it but anyway now this is what I’m sayin
It’s for you that I’m on my knees now daily prayin
Prayin that God opens your eyes now to what I’m relayin
Now I’m praying that it’s your heart that will soon be changing
Prayin one day that you’ll be calling upon His name and
But anyway I’m signin off now don’t keep me waitin
This is KJ another cat just trying to make it

CHORUS

Dear Slim I heard about the stuff you’s going through
See I could relate to you cause son I’m about as old as you
See we both know what it’s like just to be growing up to be in a neighborhood
When you’s the only one and only kid that’s white
Or to get booed when you on the mic just because your skin is light
It ain’t right but sometimes you know that’s life
But really tell me what you do
You just push on with hopes on that someday you’ll put on your crew
I hope you understand that I ain’t even dissin you
And even though its a song you’ll probably never listen to
See what I send to you is this
Is that a life without Christ is just a life that is never fixed
Hope you remember this now a few sentences
About a living God who loves you and plus forgives
And I’ll be praying for your ex-wife and plus your kid
It’s hard to live in a world as crazy as this one is
And even though now it really might sound redundant
God’s got mad love for you up in a mad abundance
You’ll sell a couple mill I’ll probably sell a couple hundred
There’s more to life then selling records and just getting blunted
But anyway that’s really all I gots to say
Just another word from an emcee now around the way
Maybe some day we meet each other in some way
Till then one love one God one way

Preston, you say that in the Bible it says that you cannot be a sinner and still be a christian, please, prove that to me, where does it say that? Oh, i forgot, it doesn’t. So check your facts dude, if what you say is true, you are calling yourself perfect, you are saying that you have never cussed, stolen anything, been mean to anyone, hurt anyones feelings, or even thought something unholy, and if you say you never have, you are a lier which is a sin right there. If you got a question on what i am saying e-mail me at tutuprincess2008@aol.com or im me at tutuprincess2008, thanks

I totally agree to Larke. We are all sinners. We all have done wrong. We deserve to die for all the sins we have commited in our lives. But Jesus has already died for us on the cross. He has died for all sins, all we have to do is ask for forgiveness and we are forgiven. Isn’t that wonderful? jay.jee.dv@gmail.com

I just have to say eminem and 52 are both tallented they simply use their tallents for diffrent things em is getting payed for his music now. Houses cars cash comphert 52 will be payed for his songs in heaven. With the souls who are there that wouldnt be otherwise its not a diss to em just a fact. I think we should pray for famous people if we think to fame and fourtan are strong temptations they have a lot to resist and if they chose christ need lots of strength.

I don’t think Marshall Mathers has any connection to Jesus in any of his songs, one artist that I  believe made the most connections to Christ through his music was Tupac Shakur, listen to his song titled "Ghetto Gospel" at the end of the song he yells in to the microphone "Lord Can You Hear Me Speak!!!"..."It’s the Pain and Strife of being Hellbound!!!"  It’s really quite something

27. Dec 23, 2005 at 11:00pm by Larke:

hi, its me Larke again, this is in response to Machiavelli505 who said that eminem has never made any connections to Jesus in his songs, but let me inform you diffrently, here is a list-

’Mosh’- "Maybe this is God just telling us were responsible for this monster..."

’Never Enough’- "When I hit the heavenly gates I’ll be cool beside Jay-Z, For every single die hard fan who embraced me ,I’m thankful for the talent in which God gave me, believe it or not I thank my mom for how she raised me..."

’Infinate’- "Imitator, Intimidator, Stimulator, Simulator of data, Eliminator
There’s never been a greater since the burial of Jesus’

’Sing for the Moment’- "Maybe tomarrow  the good Lord will take you away..."

....and this is just a few, as a die-hard Eminem fan and a minor KJ-52 fan, please people, before we state something, lets check the facts. I personally believe in my heart that Eminem is a Christian. Just because somebody doesn’t go around saying "I am a Christian! You should be too!" does not mean that they aren’t one. Now sure, everyone makes mistakes and I am not agreeing with everything he has ever said, but I don’t think we should judge a book by the cover, especially in this situation. Thankyou.

Don’t never unrespect to Jesus!  Never mind unrespect to the English language.  You know you’re having a bad day when you’re getting a writing lesson from this guy...

The bible does say that you cant be living in sin and be with God.  For now sin can be where God is.  All are sinners but when we repent that sin is forgiven.  But if you continue to sin God will be with you no longer whether you believe in him or not.  You cant just believe in him to be saved or be a Christian.  Being a Christian is a way of life.  The devil believes but yet he is not a Christian.  Believing isn’t good enough.  Its a relationship with Him and loving Him that counts.

33. Apr 23, 2006 at 11:44am by Larke:

stacy, I have a question for you. I am not saying that you are wrong or right, i am just curious to see what you will say. Picture this: Suzie is a 19 year old female, she has excepted Jesus into her heart, she believes he is her Savior, and she goes to church almost every Sunday. However, she never read her Bible, she only pray occationally, she drinks (even though she is underage), and she uses "curse word" on a daily bases. Now does Suzie go to heaven or hell?

34. Apr 24, 2006 at 10:11pm by Tasha Moyer:

Is this a trick question? Because I think it depends on whether Suzie excepts Jesus or accepts Jesus...

35. May 4, 2006 at 02:13pm by Larke:

It’s not a trick question. Suzie has accepted  Jesus into her heart.

36. May 5, 2006 at 06:47pm by Terrence:

This isn’t a trick question, so here’s the answer Larke...

In the Bible, Jesus was asked a similar question about paying taxes, to which he replied "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s."  In other words, he said "If the law says to pay Caesar your taxes, then you should give him your taxes."  What does this have to do with Suzie?  EVERYTHING!

You said that Suzie has accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.  You also said that "she never read(s) her Bible, she only prays occasionally, she drinks (even though she is underage), and she uses "curse word" on a daily basis."

1. You can’t be an obedient Christian (nor a blessed one) if you don’t read your Bible because the Bible says "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."  The Bible also says "Study to show thyself approved. A worker who needs not be ashamed; rightly dividing the Word of Truth."  You can’t seek Him until you know his Character...and you can’t know his character until you read the Bible.  And just because she goes to church doesn’t mean she is being told the right thing.  There are a lot of wolves behind pulpits in church, and if she’s not reading her Bible she won’t know if they’re lying to her.

2. When Jesus was talking about taxes, he was speaking about obeying the laws of the land.  Before you say Jesus didn’t pay taxes, please look in Matthew 17:27 and you’ll see that Jesus paid taxes also (it’s called a tribute there).  What does that have to do with drinking...this...If the Law says you are not legal to drink until you are 21 years old, then any alcohol consumed prior to that would be illegal and therefore sin; and God will not stay where sinners trod.  But on the flip side, God is would be waiting for Suzie to realize the mistake she made, fell remorseful about doing it and the come and repent to God for it.  (Please note that repentance starts with a heart change)  Once Suzie repents then 1John 1:9 will become true in her life: "If we confess our sins, He is Faithful and Just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Criminals are the ones who practice a life of illegal behavior, not Christians.

3. "Cuss Words" ...The Bible says in Ephesians 4:29, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth , but that which is good for the edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers," and Proverbs 4:23-24 says, "23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it flow the issues of life. 24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee."  Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and Life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.  Last but not least, Matthew 12:34 says, "O generation of vipers, how can you being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."

What does all that mean???  ...it means that if you aren’t speaking to build someone up, you are speaking to tear them down.  Jesus said that in fulfilling two specific commandments we would fulfill the law.  Those two commandments are to 1. Love the Lord God with all our Heart, Mind, and Strength, and 2. Love our neighbor as ourselves.

If Suzie did these two things she would go to heaven, absolutely.

The Bible does say that God’s grace and Mercies are new every morning, but that being said, are you or Suzie willing to stake your eternal life (because you will have one either in heaven or hell) on the idea that it is okay to say Jesus is your Lord and then live with sin in your life, and not repent (which includes turning away from it so you don’t do it again) with the hopes that God will still have grace on you to give you another day?  He’s been waiting long enough, don’t make him wait any longer...RUN to Him and make it right.

The Bible says that if you call on the name of Jesus you will be saved, but the Bible also says that you have to walk out your salvation DAILY (which means that you could possibly go a day without being saved), and the Bible also says "Look up, for the DAY of your salvation draws near."  God is not a "once saved, always saved" God and Jesus is NOT a FIRE INSURANCE Policy.  We are to live a LIFE, not a day, devoted to God.

So, the answer to your question is this...If Suzie continues the way she is going, I believe she will end up in Hell (by her choice, since she has heard what the Bible says - She doesn’t read her Bible or she’d know even more), BUT, if she repents and runs to God and becomes devoted to Him, she will DEFINITELY go to Heaven.

I hope that helps.  :-)

40. Jul 11, 2006 at 09:07pm by Jeffro429:

im a christian and i struggle with sin every day...just cause you repent, that doesnt mean you will never sin again or commit the same exact sin you commited before you repented... this isnt really on subject... we will always sin untill Jesus comes and makes us new. some sins people struggle with, and may always commit that sin... examples: lieing, gossiping, bad mouthing, steriotyping, bragging, being prideful, gluttony, (spelling?). even being tempted to do somethin and not doing it, is a sin. perverted thoughts are a sin. jelousy, coveting, yelling at some one in anger. putting your needs before some1 else. ignoring evil.just thinking most of these things is a sin. cheating in a card game is a sin. these are all examples of evil that we do every day... maybe not all of them every day... but at least one of these a day we will commit... if you dont do one of these things once a day, im sure i can think of more to add on to this list.

41. Mar 28, 2007 at 04:59pm by Pat:

WOW sometimes I’m ashamed of this generation. Terrible spelling and grammar. Although this is the net. I’m sure mines just as bad but anyway here’s the point. If you accept Jesus into your heart you will go to heaven, though people try to skew that and say "if you don’t this and that" well I say if you’re not reading the bible and you’re not praying than maybe you didn’t really accept Jesus in the first place. Because to accept Jesus means a radical life change. Nice try to loophole your way into heaven but no....

And as far as KJ is concerned he definitely is talented, and whether you like the music or not I think "em" and KJ deserve some respect for being good at what they do. (though I don’t like "the real "sell out shady") Also, KJ posted the song on his site for a while as a free download, and I think we all know "em" wasn’t going to respond. There’s a difference between "dissing a homeboy" and speaking the truth. Also if anyone wasn’t aware  there is a Dear Slim pt. 2 song on a later album.

Finally, just a thought, leave it to the secular people of this thread to bring in the oops!’s and start the gay chat, real mature. I think the music you listen to, and your words are a testament to the life you live.

42. Aug 5, 2007 at 08:34am by Matt:

A couple of thoughts on reading this message.

First, I really do enjoy KJ-52’s songs.  There is a great message to be found in them, and the "Dear Slim" songs are no different.  I think that they were written as he compared his singing with Eminem’s as so many do compare it.

Second, to Larke and the others who profess that Eminem is a Christian, Larke is correct that the to judge others for by the same measure that we judge them so shall we be judged.  But what you are forgetting is that it also tells us that we are to be fruit inspectors.  That means that if we do not see the evidence of Christ in the life of the person claiming to be Christian, then their lips are just flapping.  All that I see in you quotes from Eminem are flapping lips.  They recognize a God, this is true, but then again so does Satan.  There are many who believe they will get into heaven without Jesus, so your "Never Enough" is irrelevant as evidence.  Read your quote again from "Infinite": "Imitator, Intimidator, Stimulator, Simulator of data, Eliminator".  Are these ways you describe Jesus?  As a fake?  As a Bully?  Eminem says the only who was more of those than him was Jesus!  Not what I would expect from a follower of Christ!

Third, on the Susie issue, and on the larger issue of whether we as Christians are still able to sin, I to think that it is possible for a Christian to sin and still be secure in his salvation.  Why do I say that, because of what the Apostle Paul wrote: "For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing."  You see, the Apostle Paul understood that we are a three part being.  We have a body (flesh), we have a soul (our mind, will, and emotions), and we are a spirit.  Paul understood that we had a battle going on inside of us between the soul (our old man) and the spirit (that was made Alive in Christ).  And they both want control of us.  So each day our take control of the battle.  Paul reminds us of this, when he tells us not to be conformed to this world (don’t settle for a life of sin) but be transformed by the renewing of our minds (take control and change the way you think).  So what does this have to do with Suzie, well if she has accepted Christ, and by the author of the hypothesis I will accept that she has, then she has chosen thus far to live a life of average instead of the full life that Christ has given her.  She drinks to get drunk, she cusses like a sailor, she does not pray and she does not read her bible.  But she does go to church, not every week but most weeks, so she has not foresaken the coming together as some have.  I would say reading this that she is still a newborn in Christ.  She does not realize that she has the power within her to change, and does not appear to realize that she is doing the Christian thing wrong.  As such, I think she would go to heaven if she were to die, but then would be ashamed on the day of judgement.  She will come through the fire, but will not have much gold to show for it.

Fourth, can a Christian be perfect?  I used to think like so many of you that it is not possible.  But as I have gotten older and have studied more, I have rethought that position.  So many of you have brought up the sins of the person BEFORE their salvation experience.  But I ask you, what does 2 Corinthians 5:17 state "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation’ the old things have passed away, behold all things have become new."  When you become a Christian, that slate is wiped clean.  When you confess sin, that sin is forgotten.  It is possible then, to moment by moment, walk this life in a perfect walk." Have I reached it yet, no.  I still make mistakes, but I turn to Him and am forgiven and start over.  Much like the Alcoholic at Al Anon.  I, by walking each day, may be perfect for 1 day, or for 1 week, or for 1 month.  And when I mess up, then I start over, like that person when they fall off the wagon.  Is this a proper view, I think so because Paul, when addressing churches did not once write to the "sinners at ..." but rather wrote to the "saints at...".  In God’s eyes, the sacrifice of Jesus has done something great, "because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy."  We are perfect, in theory, it is by walking that perfection out that we are being made holy.

i love how you people have such strong beliefs in Jesus, but there’s just one problem: you seem to be debating on who gets into heaven. i, myself, am a strong christian, and a sinner, as everybody else is. what i’m trying to say is that the entrance into heaven can only be determined by God. not me, or anyone else, but God. even if someone like eminem does bad things in their life, how can you determine or not if he goes to hell? it’s completley up to God to decide.

btw, eminem is a really good rapper and it would be wonderful if he turned out to be a christian

As far as who will go to Heaven the jesus clearly states who will go and its those who accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not Perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)If Eminem doesnt accept Jesus, he will go to Hell. thats why i constantly pray almost daily for him to give his life to the Lord. Because i really like Eminem alot and it would be so cool if he became a christian rapper. Just think if he got filled with the Holy Ghost, plus use the talent the Lord blessed him with just think about how annointed and how many people he could touch with the power of the Holy Spirit. I like listening to KJ52 because he sounds like a christian Eminem. i conitinue to pray for Mr. Marshall Mathers daily. and yes we all sin but thats why we must pray daily for ourselves to get away from the sins that we commit. no one is perfect but as long as we pray and strive to be better God can work with us.

These are all scriptures that have helped me to grow in Christ.  It sounds like some of you are where I was at when they had a huge impact on my life.

Importance of reading the Bible:

Matthew 22:29  Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God."

2 Peter 3:17  Therefore dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.

Next are verses that caused me to fear God, because of sin in my life, and caused me to stop doing things I knew were sin.  I now teach my kids that fear of the Lord will control their flesh, because it did in my life.  Think about how many things in your life you will ABSOLUTELY not do because of fear--drinking poison for instance.

Galatians 5:16  So I say, live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Philippians 2:12b  ...continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,...

1 John 2:3-6  We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love[b] is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 3:6  No one who lives in him keeps on sinning.  No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

1 John 3:9  No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.  This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are:  Anyone who does no do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

What I’ve learned through my Christian walk is many of the things I had believed and had built my life on were things I had been taught by church leaders and/or other Christians.  However, it turns out that many of those things aren’t in the Bible or there are other scriptures that refute the logic that leads to those beliefs.  Knowing the scriptures has helped me filter out who is speaking from the Bible and who is speaking partially from the Bible.  Remember, Satan tried to deceive Jesus using the scriptures, but Jesus was able to show Satan how his logic was in error--ref Matthew 4:1-11.

Confused?  Put your trust in Jesus the Christ for the payment of your sins, your salvation, and read God’s communication to his people to see what is right and what is wrong.  It all starts with faith in Jesus the Christ.

Where are you in this parable--I was the seed sown among the thorns?

Mark 4:1-20  Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: "Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times."
Then Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that,
" ’they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,
      and ever hearing but never understanding;
otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’[a]"

Then Jesus said to them, "Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown."

Ecclesiastes 12:13
      Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.
