the get up kids. humm. *if you haven’t heard these guys you don’t know what emo is* that statement has NO truth to it what so ever. and not every band is *emo* have you ever heard of cursive or poison the well. the get up kids is probably the LEAST *emo* band on your list. goodjob

That’s your opinion.  Fine.  Myself and many other people consider the Get Up Kids’ pre-OnAWire albums to be very much emo.

mainly i was arguing to the, if you havent heard the get up kids you dont know what emo is. sorry if i did not make that clear enough. never did i say they were not emo. but you can not even know who they are and still know what emo is. but this is petty compared to my response for the other thing later either emial or message.board. whatever.

The "emo" genre is so highly subjective, moreso than most/all other genres, and perhaps the best way to define the term is to name bands who represent it. In my opinion, "Four Minute Mile", "Something To Write Home About", and the Get Up Kids’ early EPs are so emo as to be defining for the genre. Thus, in my opinion, a person who has heard none of those albums does not have a full/clear comprehension of what "emo" is.
