Okay, what is going on here! All of a sudden, I start getting more pop-ups then I can count! I swear, it’s about five pop-ups per 30 seconds. I just got one while writing that last sentence! If I turn my back without disabling my internet, I look back only to have about 30 windows up. It’s not just that though. They like to taunt me, too. The pop-ups I get the most of are the one’s that say, "Stop Pop-ups Now!" Come on! Free me from this insanity!

personally, I use the google toolbar, which kills popups, my guess however, would be you have some sort of adware installed, so i would check out ad-aware and see if you have something you need to get rid of :)

First of all, you probably do have some piece of adware installed... this is a sneaky program that isn’t necessarily related to your browser, but it might create pop-up windows that look like browser windows. You can download the free version of Ad-Aware which will scan your system and remove any adware that it finds.
You should also use the mozilla browser instead of Internet Explorer, because it has built-in pop-up blocking (and because it’s just all-around better). I haven’t seen a pop-up ad for almost two years (well, not on MY computer that is...).

I just made Mozilla Firebird my default browser today. I heard about it from you Anthony. Works great for everything but two sites: www.macconnection.com and www.altiris.com/registration. The mac site constantly refreshes/reloads. The Altiris site has a license registration applet that just fails.
The tabs and pop up blocking are just too good to resist!

Hm, macconnection.com works fine for me. I’m using Mozilla version 1.5 beta. (Granted, I use Linux, not Windows, so that might also have something to do with it (but then again, it shouldn’t...).) I didn’t try the registration applet on that page, since I don’t have a registration number. But there is a little message on the side of the page that says "If your browser does not support cookies or Javascript, email Altiris Licensing." Well, that’s not exactly the case -- the case is that their site is written in some non-standard way that isn’t working on Mozilla, a standards-compliant browser -- but since they seem to be open to emails, maybe let them know about your problem? (Assuming applets on other sites DO work for you?)

Oh, great. Uh, yeah, I don’t really know that much about comps. All this really does is remind me of a penny-arcade cartoon making fun of linux users. If you don’t know penny-arcade.com, I feel sorry for you. Then again it is mainly only funny to video gamers. But if your not a video gamer, I pity you all the same.

I think the reason Altiris wants you to e-mail Altiris licensing is not because they will work on fixing it, but that they will take your licensing issue "off line" and work with you via e-mail submission.
Oh, BTW, I just re-imaged my notebook and re-installed using mozillafirebird.exe -p and Mac Connection comes up fine now! I need to read up on specifics concerning Firebird and how to make sure the Windows registry gets updated. My boss is Open Source hostile right now, so Windows stays.
