Argh! Mom beat me to it : )
Merry Christmas, world! My Christmas was fantastic, naturally, because I have been blessed with the best family on the planet.
A photo of Cailin that my mom took with her new camera. (More to come, either here or on my mom’s site. UPDATE: here they are.) This new camera is really nifty; it’s ridiculously tiny, takes 3.2 megapixel images, and does 640x480 video at 30fps with 44.1kHz sound. (Not yet sure about the overall image quality, which depends on more than the megapixel number, of course.) But what’s really stinking cool is that it came with a 512MB SD memory card!! That is huge. Holds ~490 photos at 3.2 megapixels. Sick. And, it’s got USB2 connectivity, so transferring that full 512MB only takes about 15 minutes. It also has a 6x optical zoom which is really awesome for such a small camera to have internally (my camera has only 3x optical zoom, and the lens needs to poke out the front to achieve that).
So... the new Sarah McLachlan album, "Afterglow," is amazing. And it ought to be, considering it’s her first new album in 5 years! Who does she think she is, Lisa Loeb??
Also amazing are the Really Slick Screensavers. And they’re available for both Windows and Linux. (Yay for OpenGL and hardware-accelerated 3D on Linux :) Definitely download and install them; they’re free after all.
Finally, why judo is better than karate is a short movie clip that you have to see. It’s easily a contender for the funniest thing in existence.
