Just a bit of trivia Anthony; you were 2 1/2 months old the last time the E A G L E S played in the Super Bowl (they lost). You partied at Aunt Mare’s place with us, remember? Huh, do ya, huh????? Me neither :)
Hope you enjoy this game more than the last. GO EAGLES ! ! !
Ugh. Being an Eagles fan -- and I’m barely a fan, I only care because it’s my home team -- is so frustrating and disappointing. I can only imagine how much more so it is for the players.
At least they got as far as they got. They had an incredible record. Also, they’ve been getting to the conference championship pretty often over the last 5 years.
Oh whatever. "We" crushed you? You’re from Maryland, so why do you like the Patriots? Oh that’s right, because they’ve won 3 Superbowls in 4 years. It’s easy to like the winning team, and there’s even a term for people like that: fairweather fan.
> There is no way Eagles could have beaten Patriots
That’s just blatantly false. They were within 4 points of beating the Patriots. That’s not "no way," that’s "really close."
Exactly, Anthony. They did a lot better against the Pats then the Steelers did 2 weeks before.
There were plenty of ways the Eagles could have won. Think about if McNabb would have had his head in the game and not made the mistakes he made. That would have probably led to at least one more touchdown. Or if the Eagles didn’t slow down on their final drive for some reason unknown. Do the math and figure out who wins then. There was a chance. It just wasn’t the Eagles time. McNabb is good 9 out of 10 games. That 10th game he fumbles, passes interceptions, and can be read from the beginning of every play by the opposing defense. Murphy’s Law says that the Super Bowl is obviously going to be that 10th game.
I would argue that 3 points is not "crushing" anyone in any sport except soccer (or an obscure sport played eons ago called "hockey"). You didn’t even cover the spread. Further, I bet you weren’t saying, "There’s no way the Eagles could beat us," when it was tied at half time. In fact, maybe if McNabb wasn’t puking in the 4th quarter, right now I’d be planning a trip to Philly this Tuesday for the victory parade.
The point is, if you’re honest with yourself, you slipped by us due to our mistakes more than your own merit in a game that you were supposed to win by a large margin. Be careful because you might not be as lucky in Super Bowl XL.
