24

Not to bump your exciting business news from top billing but it’s all your fault for getting me hooked.  And jumping in at day 5 is confusing.  Especially when we’re watching earlier days being rerun on the A&E channel the hour before tonights premier started and I have no idea which day it is or what time it started.  Yikes!  But it is a great show; however, I feel my heart racing various times throughout the shows and I’m hoping my age can handle it :)  Just kidding.

You don’t necessarily have to have seen the previous seasons (or "days" since each season is one day) to follow the current one.  It helps fill in some of the background stuff, but they will also do some of that on-screen throughout the current season.

But one exception might be that if you didn’t see the end of last season, then you have no idea why Jack is in hiding / on the run / the bad guy right from the start on Day 5.  They explained it super-briefly in the first 2 minutes of the show tonight, where they recapped the previous stuff.

If you want me to explain it just ask, but I’ll wait in case you want to see season 4 without having the ending spelled out beforehand.

I know what you mean about your heart racing! I nearly cried about 3 times tonight (and I spend a lot of time with my hands clenched). We’re so spoiled, as we’ve been watching the DVDs; it’s nearly unbearable to have to sit through 300 Verizon DSL commercials! I can’t believe we have to wait 24 hours before the next installment airs. : ) Anyway, I’m glad you’ve joined the small army of DiSantes watching 24 every week!

What a first 10 minutes, huh?  I never saw the Palmer hit coming.  He seemed to be out of the picture after last season.  Then they bring him back just to kill him off first thing.  The whole part with him talking to his brother seemed outta place to me.

I think that maybe it was getting to be an unfair superpower that Jack could just call on Palmer whenever he was in a bind.  But I don’t know.  Depending on how the rest of the day plays out, the assassination could end up being significant to the plot.
