website similar?

I have my own site, steev.net - i love the look of your site, and was wondering if you would mind if i did my site stylisticly based on yours? I use e107, so its gonna take some modification, and the fact that im new to php, and still learning, but i thought I would ask permission to use a look similar to yours before i went ahead and did it

Hi Steev,

That’s so funny because I was at your site a week or two ago (I replied to your DSC-S85 post -- great camera), and I thought of writing to you and asking the same thing! I like your layout with the boxes and the smallish unbold text. My problem is, I get sick of layouts so quickly... I constantly want to change my site.

Anyway thanks for asking first... feel free to use my design as a base or whatever you’d like.  Since you actually asked me, I assume you’re not the type to go and put up an identical site and then say "this is all my original work" or anything like that... so it’s no problem.  I’m glad you like it  : )

What exactly is e107?  Is it just a souped-up blogger, or is it like an entire website that you can download and put up on your own server?  I’ve seen it around and read about it but I don’t quite get it.

PS - about your duplicate post... that’s happened a few times on my board from a few different people, so it’s definitely a problem with the design of the interface. I have to re-think and re-code the submission logic. Apparently a decent amount of people just naturally refresh the page after posting, so I need to account for that.  When I get the time. . .

Alright! I love bugs with easy solutions!

Apparently if you send the client a Location: header, it has to include the FQDN including the http:// at the start. I was previously sending visitors back to the main page (after posting) with just the relative pathname... and that left the "posting" URL in the browser, so a refresh caused a re-post.  That’s pretty weird, but I guess that’s what I get for not following the HTTP spec on the Location header.  But it’s all fixed now.

e107 is a modular cms that a buddy of mine in England wrote, i’ve been using it since v1 (its at 5.05 now) that is extremely easy to use, and easy to write plugins for. Its done in PHP and I dunno, its just easy to use.  Keep up the great work though, I visit your site almost daily, its starting to get into my routine!

That’s awesome, thanks for the encouragement! And thanks for the word on e107. It’s very nice looking and I’ll probably end up messing with it at some point.
