How does everyone feel about the new movie? Does anyone feel it is violating the second commandment? What about Mel Gibson and his comments on salvation?

I haven’t seen it yet. But I can’t say I think that it violates the second commandment. And I haven’t heard Mel Gibson’s comments on salvation.
Mel’s response to Diane Saywer’s question if he believes someone can only be saved by believing in Jesus.
I did a little searching since I didn’t see this interview; I assume this is the item at hand?
Sawyer questioned the Catholic actor about whether his traditionalist belief system barred the door to heaven to Jews, Muslims, and Protestants, to which Gibson replied, "That’s not the case at all – absolutely not. It is possible for people who are not even Christian to get into the kingdom of heaven."
That’s obviously (blatantly) contrary to the Bible’s teaching, but Gibson is a Catholic, so that is not surprising.
yeah, that’s what I heard him say. He said everyone of any religious affiliation can enter the kingdom of God. He claimed it is just easier for cathlics. A majority of my family is catholic and as I see it even if does believe that salvation comes from believing in Christ, cathlics don’t believe that alone. They believe that they also must complete works, such as sacraments, attending mass, and confession.
When I was Catholic we didn’t believe that way. Without Jesus, you were going to hell. But, we did waste a lot of time praying to Mary and the saints. Also wasted time repeating prayers over and over (rosary) and carrying out rituals like "Stations of the Cross." Other than disciplining the body/mind, these do little to improve your relationship with Jesus.
There is a shift away from these rituals and prayers, but Mel is pulling hard back to traditional Catholicism with all it’s flaws.
When I was in Catholic school just a few years ago, they were definitely still all about the rituals and "prayers" that were just vain repetitions. I’m pretty sure the average Catholic doesn’t believe in most of the crazy and unbiblical stuff that the Catholic church teaches, because the average Catholic doesn’t actually know what their church teaches. But it does have an official doctrine and it’s most definitely in severe disagreement with the bible.
