Thrice-kill me quickly

trying to understand their style. Drumming is dull & ho-hum.  But I like the sound @ the 2nd half of this piece a lot :)  Very cool.  I need an upgrade from my Benwin 18W to understand their lyrics though :(  Too far behind the accoustics.  Any suggestions for nice speakers?  Well,  back to DaveMatthewsBand for now  :)    Have a great day!

I’d say that the percussion is intentionally sparse and simple, because the song sounds good that way. The song is fast and busy, and complex beats or fills would muddle the sound. The drums are there to lay the foundation, and this isn’t jazz, so solid drumming is appropriate.  At least that’s how I see it.

Yes, the lyrics are sort of hard to decipher until you’ve listened to it for a few days.  Here they are:

Can we, can we kill each other quickly?
Quick enough so I won’t feel it?
A shot of strobe light anesthesia and I’ll be fine.

As I’m beginning to feel cold,
my hands are shaking from fear,
white from clutching my pride,
red from cutting you,
and blue from telling lies.

’Cause I’m sick of the stabbing,
I’m sick of the breaking...
Sick of the bleeding until we fall down.
Sick of this circle of death that we dance through,
again and again, just lay me in the ground.
Let’s fall asleep together,
hold me darling ’cause I’m scared...
and I can’t do this alone.

But I need your heartbeat to haunt me,
your cold lips to breathe...
A promise that tomorrow we’ll wake up somewhere new.

( Thrice, Kill Me Quickly )

As for speakers, well, my Infinity RS3s are nice... but they’re no computer speakers...

And actually, after hearing it again this weekend, I noticed lots of subtle intricacies on the hats and ride throughout the song. I have to disagree about the drums being dull.
