No, Really

I just had the best idea.

When I compare showering to shaving, shaving is on the "pain in the butt" end of the scale, and showering is on the other end.  I love showers -- who doesn’t love hot water and cleanness?  But if you shave at any time other than immediately after showering, your skin is way less soft and smooth, making shaving a lot harder and more nick-prone.  It’s cruel irony: showering makes shaving better, but shaving puts a big damper on the overall joy of the showering process.

So... I’m going to buy a suction-cuppy mirror and shave in the shower!  It will extend my time in the shower and make shaving even easier, since it’s also a pain to have to splash water from the sink all over your face and neck trying to get rid of leftover shaving cream, etc.

What a fantastic idea.  I can’t believe I never thought of this before.

I had a shower mirror, but I never put it up because it required an inline pipe to be connected to the shower head so that water from the shower head would constantly flow through a tube behind the mirror (to prevent fogging up).  My wife thought it was hideous, so I had to chuck it.

How does yours work (without fogging up)?

Well, I didn’t get anything yet; I hadn’t actually planned out the details.  I just realized in the shower this morning that it would be a good idea.  But if they do make such a thing as a water-heated mirror like that, I guess that’s what I’ll get.  Small price to pay for my skyrocketing efficiency and standard of living.

I heard if you wipe a mirror with shaving cream it will prevent fogging.  I never tried it though.

You could also spit on your mirror and rub it in to prevent it from fogging up.  That is what divers do with their swim goggles.

You might have to get some friends together to gather enough spit to cover the mirror.  And then they might not be your friends anymore.  No friends and no fog.

I read tipsking.com.  What the heck is glycerin?

That is just gross on so many levels.

Glycerin is a chemical that absorbs water, so that makes sense.  But about the shaving cream, I wonder why it has to be the aerosol kind, and has to have menthol?  Mine’s Gilette foamy -- I think that qualifies as aerosol -- but it doesn’t have menthol.
