Ultrasound

Hi Anthony.  I dropped by to see if Brian wrote anything....what is wrong with him??
Did Brian tell you about the ultrasound??  It was so awesome to see the baby and was he/she moving around!  It was so funny.  I am sure the baby was responding to the pressure of the ultrasound equiptment.
I am heading into my fourth month.  Praise the Lord for His unspeakable gift to us!
See you when we get back from Bar Harbor, Maine.
Heidi.

Scary Places

Just got back from my second trip in 2 weeks to Bethany Beach, DE.  There are some interesting roads/placenames on the way down route 1 in Delaware...

Slaughter Beach
Slaughter Neck
Prime Hook
Broadkill Beach
Savages Ditch Road

Gosh, I’d sure like to stay in some of those places...

I Hate Broadband

I hate broadband.  I mean, I love it when it works, but I’ve used 3 different broadband ISPs and for each one, it took over a month to get it working.  Conestoga "Odyssey" DSL, Comcast/@Home/Adelphia cable, and now Comcast cable... weeks and weeks go by and it just doesn’t work and they send "technicians" (ahem) out 2 or 3 times and finally, just 9000 years later, you’re online.

Right now I’m dialing up (gasp) to my school’s ISP since my Comcast cable is not working, and the technician isn’t coming till Tuesday.  I saw an ad for Verizon DSL for only $40/mo... has anyone used that, or any other broadband ISPs in southeast PA, and had a good experience?

Wild horses...sure

I got back from the beach Monday night.  It was really a great weekend, but don’t believe the hype about Assateague Island and all the "wild horses."  Check out the new photos.

Terrorists like to be vague

People are suddenly upset that president Bush and/or the government "didn’t do anything" in response to vague warnings of possible terrorist activity last August.  Democrat Senator John Edwards said that "There should have been bells and whistles going off" because of the information that US intelligence had available.  The information was: 1) the FBI was suspicious about the number of Arab students enrolling at a flight school in Phoeniz, AZ, and they made reference to a possible connection to Osama bin Laden; 2) the arrest of a suspected terrorist in Minnesota; and 3) a report given to president Bush explaining Osama bin Laden’s past terrorist attacks.  Now the media (and others, like Sen. Edwards) are running around saying things like "why didn’t we do anything to prevent the attacks?"

Nothing could have been done to predict the attacks.  The intelligence did not contain specific information about an attack; namely, it did not indicate a date, location, or method of attack.  And even if we did suspect that someone would fly a plane into a building, there isn’t anything that we can do about that.  We can’t shut the nation down.  If we did, for example, shut down the airlines in August in response to these "warning signs," what good would that have done?  First of all, the attacks didn’t occur until September, and second, we would just have to open them right back up again, unless we planned on waiting for the terrorists to come out and say "ok, you win, we were going to fly some planes into buildings but since you shut the airlines down, we can’t, so now, you can open them up and we’ll cancel our plans."

When the public hears this news now, they think "see?  The FBI knew that Osama bin Laden was up to something!"  But the public had no idea who that person was 8 months ago.  The only reason "bells and whistles" might go off now is that now we KNOW that Osama bin Laden flew some planes into some buildings.  Before that, hearing the name Osama bin Laden would certainly not set off any bells and whistles.

It’s not uncommon for our country or any country to receive threats.  And it’s certainly not in the best interest of the nation to inform the public of every single threat of possible terrorist activity.  It wouldn’t provide any safety, it wouldn’t predict or prevent any attacks, it would cause the public to get worked up and live in fear, and it would reveal our intelligence to any possible attackers.

Murder as an alternative to responsibility and self-control

Just read this in a news article:

"Gandy only briefly discussed abortion during her speech, telling those in attendance that if too many conservative federal judges were appointed, their rulings would weaken laws protecting the environment, civil rights, and women’s reproductive rights, particularly abortion. "

I’d just like to point out that technically speaking, murder is not a "reproductive right."  How pathetic and selfish and self-deceiving people can be.

Brandtson and Joshua Rock!

I saw Brandtson, Joshua, and The Rocking Horse Winner at the Chameleon in Lancaster tonight.  Brandtson was super, I was going nuts, and so were they, but the crowd was just standing still.  I hate crowds like that.  Joshua were also really jamming.  I like The Rocking Horse Winner, but I wasn’t really impressed with their performance.  It was at least partly because of the mix... her vocals were too loud and piercing, and personally I thought the bass and guitar were too loud too.  But I have their first CD and I really like it.  (She’s the female vocalist you hear on Dashboard Confessional’s album "The Places...".)
