Why are you guys voting for Bush? Im just curious..
Because he fights for the weakest of our nation, the pre-born citizens who don’t voice.
I agree. If a woman wants to abort herself, I fully support her "right to choose." But I object to a woman aborting another human being -- men aren’t allowed to murder except in self-defense, and women should have the exact same rights.
President Bush is also against "homosexual marriage," which is a contradiction of terms since marriage is an actual word with an actual definition... and I support him in that as well.
I also believe that the president is taking the right steps in the War on Terror. I believe that we won’t be safe until fanatical Muslims stop wanting to kill Americans, and I believe that won’t stop until they begin making accomplishments for themselves and having successful governments and economies that they can be proud of. We can no longer afford to wait and hope for them to do this for themselves, and president Bush recognizes that. Establishing democratic governments in Afghanistan and Iraq was a huge accomplishment, and it convinced Libya to abandon its WMD programs as well. With these two new emerging democratic nations in the middle-east, and with the forces of the US, the UK, and other allies in that area, we can begin to focus and put pressure on Iran and Syria to stop sponsoring and harboring terrorists.
Killing/capturing/removing Saddam and Osama are important goals, but other terrorists will continually arise after them if we don’t attack the root cause. I believe president Bush understands that, but I saw no evidence that Kerry did. I did however see an abundance of evidence that Kerry was very concerned with making the US popular in the rest of the world. (Where "the rest of the world" mostly means France, Germany, and the Arab nations, since we do in fact have 30- or 40-some allies in this war.) But there is no sense in looking for acceptance amongst those whose goals are massively different than your own. Bush’s goal is to prevent another 9/11, and France/Germany/Arab states/the UN are certainly not as concerned about that goal as we are, if they are concerned about it at all. The European Way (with the exclusion of the UK) is largely to run and hide -- cf. Spain -- but in America that isn’t how we do things. We have saved them in more than one war before, and whether they realize and accept it or not, we are doing it again now.
On pretty much any other day of the year, I would love to turn that question into a very long diatribe, but today I am in gloating mode, not defense mode. Anthony has hit the highlights. This is a shameless plug, but if you really want a list of reasons that I voted for Bush, I wrote a decent amount throughout the campaign at my blog about my reasons. Admittedly most of the posts were dedicated to making fun of Kerry (just because it was more fun), but I also wrote quite a bit about why I was voting for Bush. Asking why I’m voting for Bush is like asking me to explain my entire Conservative philosophy and that simply can’t be encapsulated in a single paragraph.
To me, Bush seemed like an idiot. Just watching him in the debates, and the way he responded to topics. Im sure he has an amazing team behind him though, so I dont really fear for you guys (Im Canadian).
"Bush is an idiot" is the image the media and the Democrats want implanted in voter’s minds and that’s what they’ve said about every Republican administration since Eisenhower. Bush is not an elitist and is certainly not as articulate as John Kerry, but that does not make him dumb (granted, his performance during the first debate was admittedly disappointing). Dumb people don’t go to Harvard and Yale, nor do they confound their political opponents at every step. Bush is a very smart, sometimes inarticulate man who loves to be underestimated.
