Uncontacted Tribe Photographed Near Brazil-Peru Border

Am I the only one who, upon hearing about this story and seeing the photos, can’t think of anything but the Geico cavemen?

The Geico cavemen, and "that’s totally photoshopped" are my primary reactions to this.

Thats so weird to think about, that there are still people who are almost complete Neanderthals (I think thats the right word here?)..just amazing.

I don’t think they’re Neanderthals; I think they’re just humans who have stayed in the jungles rather than forming towns and getting civilized and stuff.

Apparently, the picture is legit, but the  story is not...

Interesting!  So, they really are an uncontacted tribe, but it’s not the case that they were hitherto unknown.  The groups behind the photos have known about the tribe for about a century, but in order to get publicity to raise awareness of the dangers posed to the tribe(s) by logging, they ran the photos with the not-100%-honest story.
