I am really not a snake fan, but I almost feel bad for this one - - it looks so scared with the two lionesses on the prowl!
Is that a gash mark on the top of the snakes head?
It’s a dark spot. I thought it might have been blood, but then I’m not sure if snakes bleed. It may have been Chloe’s blood.
Yeah I felt kind of bad for the little guy too. But, cats are hunters, that’s just nature.
It looks like an earthworm from a distance.
I had a Siamese cat named Ginger Baker, named for the drummer in Eric Clapton’s group Cream, who loved to hunt. We live in the country in Central Illinois and no snake or small rodent was safe. The terrorizing part was that "GB" was extremely proud of his hunting skills and always wanted to "share" his prey. We lived in a very dilapidated pre-Civil War farm house with a screen door that did not latch securely so we would occasionally find dead mice on the kitchen floor. However one morning at 5 AM was way over the top. My husband worked construction and I had gotten up to pack his lunch. I am not a morning person so I was basically in a stupor until the moment that I opened the corner cupboard and looked down and discovered a dead (luckily) garter snake approximately two feet long curled on the floor. The screen door got a new latch that day and Baker had leave all his trophies on the porch after that.
