Who am I really?

I am a Christian.  Most people have some preconceived notion of what this means, and most of the time they are incorrect.  To be a Christian means two things (but really they are only one).  First, that I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.  Second, that I believe that the Bible is the perfect word of God, and I choose to live my life based on these teachings alone.  In a nutshell, the reason I believe these things is because I realize that I've failed God and hurt people in my life, and as much as I try to be a "good person," it's only a matter of time until I sin again.

Realizing that I'm hopeless to save myself from this state, and that I don't deserve to spend eternity with God because of my sins, my only hope is to trust in the salvation Jesus offers: "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us [brought us back to life] together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2)

What I do

I currently own and operate the IT company Encodable Industries.  It is primarily a web design and web programming company; our popular products include a great upload progress bar script, a powerful website login system, and a real-time visitor logger.  We also have a simple but configurable formmail script and an auto-update script for DynDNS and ZoneEdit.

For a couple short months from November '05 to January '06 I worked as a PC technician at a computer shop in Pittsburgh called Kevin's Computer & Photo.

Before that, I worked as a system administrator and programmer for the bioinformatics lab at the Penn State University.

I spent 4 summers at Unisys Corporation, twice as part of the Systems & Technology group, doing all sorts of things relating to the design of circuits and systems.  During the other two summers at Unisys, I worked as a programmer and (small-scale) system administrator.

Before that, I worked at a computer shop in Pottstown called DE Systems, where I was a technician building new computers and fixing computers.
