Redesign

It’s that time again!  And it has been quite a while; my previous layout may have been the longest-running ever -- certainly the longest in a while.

If things just look totally broken, you may have to press Ctrl-R or Ctrl-F5 in your browser to make sure you’re viewing the latest version of the page.

I’m not sure about the blue though (in the sidebar).  Does it look good?  Does it match the green in the header and the gray in the background?  I was experimenting with a lighter gray in place of the blue, and I may switch to that instead.  Unless everyone loves the blue, that is.

Update: you can use the themes page to switch between themes in Mozilla/Firefox.

Using WinXP - Firefox 1.5.0.1, I tried all the usual refreshing techniques, including clearing my cache, but it did not switch until I went to View->Page Style->200602bearsblue. When navigating away, it kept reverting to the old style. IE6 breaks your style sheet: the right sidebar showed only lines for each link, until you hover it with the mouse. In the following screenshot I had my mouse over the "Required Listening" link that was also a line before the hover:  Click here to see the screenshot

OT: For posting, I noticed that the greater than symbol shows: ampersand gt semi-colon in the preview, but posts just fine (like in my above post).

You caught me right in the middle of making some changes.  The blue sidebar works properly but right now the gray sidebar does not.

And the greater-than problem is a known bug with the post preview; I just haven’t gotten around to fixing it.  I never really think about it since I seem to never type a greater-than in any of my posts.

OK, the gray-sidebar theme now works properly, and there are a few others now too.  I really like the blue color itself but apparently it doesn’t go with the rest of the layout (according to a couple people who really don’t like it).  I like the gray sidebar but I was kind of going for something a little more bold and colorful.

Cool, I have the blue sidebar, and it works between all pages thanks to the post update. I like the blue better than the gray, although I can see that some people might not like it. I think it might be because the blue sidebar and the green grass in the header image clash a bit. I still like it though.

OK, I got tired of manually updating the files to test new colors, so I set it up like this:

http://nodivisions.com/?nav2bg=000&nav2text=FFF&nav2link=F20

Using that format, you can specify the sidebar’s background color, text color, or link color (or all 3 at once, as in that example).  The value can be any 3- or 6-digit hex code (that is, 3 or 6 digits long, and containing only numbers and letters from A-F).

Ooh, I like it! I love the blue-grey color. It does go well with the green. I didn’t like how it was for the last couple of days, this is much better!!

Just wanted to follow-up: I like the re-design. Also the green and light green sidebars look good. I think any color will look good over there, since the basic white, black and gray dominate the rest of the page. Good work.

Yeah, that is a nice blue. Did you ever do a light green, like the grass?

Of course I love the black sidebar but I only caught it once while surfing the different colors and then it was gone :(  Just a fleeting thing.

Would post more but we’re off to St. Maartin :)  Nice and warmmmmmmm......

Oh and my next bestest favorite is the RED, both the lettering and hi-lighting when you move the mouse over a link!

Sweetness.  I dig.

Alright, light-green sidebar is here to stay.  Thanks for playing!

Very nice re-design, Anthony!  Love the green - and the bear cubs are cute too!

I love the bears and the light green sidebar! Good decision on the color scheme.
